art meets city
Fri 15. Jul - Sun 04. Sep 2022
Kurgarten Baden-Baden
Open Air Gallery

The space turns into a celebration: the multicoloured, refined sculptures made on the model of the traditional southern Italian “luminarie” provided the visual frame for a highly acclaimed fashion show by Dior in Lecce. In the summer, three works by Marinella Senatore will be on display in Baden-Baden at “art meets city”. The wooden arches and geometric shapes are designed with colourful LED bulbs, which create an imaginary stage as well as an evocative ambience. Born in southern Italy,  Marinella Senatore is an internationally renowned artist. The centerpiece of the show is a work that has been produced specifically for Baden-Baden. This installation is the largest work by the artist that has been exhibited in Germany to date. In addition to “art meets city”, Marinella Senatore is currently working on other prestigious projects at important institutions, such as the Palais de Tokyo (Paris) and the Hayward Gallery (London).

Marinella Senatore (born 1977) currently lives in Rome. Senatore is a multidisciplinary artist trained in fi ne arts, music, and cinema. Her work is characterized by a strong involvement and collaboration with local communities. Marinella Senatore incorporates the surrounding environment in her works, creating fluid and heterogeneous spaces. Her artworks, performances and dance projects have been exhibited at the Centre Pompidou in Paris, as well in New York, Berlin, Miami and Tel Aviv, among others. Marinella Senatore has also participated in several Biennials, such as Venice, São Paulo, and Havana, as well as in the Manifesta12 in Palermo.

Admission is free.
