Rhythm and Blues

Since 2005, Rhythm & Blues has been synonymous with concert evenings featuring a rotating lineup of guest soloists in the Round Hall of the Kurhaus in Baden-Baden. At the heart of the series is the Ralf Heinrich Group, led by artistic director Ralf Heinrich. Different lineups, plenty of room for improvisation, and the close proximity between the stage and the audience give each concert its own unique character.

The first Rhythm & Blues concert took place in 2005 at the Kurhaus Baden-Baden. In 2025, the series celebrated its 20th anniversary. Since then, numerous musicians have shaped the concert evenings. Guests have included Ron Williams, Harriet Lewis, Eb Davis, Waldo Weathers, Dorrey Lyles, Menoosha, and Ingrid Arthur, among others.

The musical centerpiece of the series is the Ralf Heinrich Group. Until 2025, the group was known to many guests as The Voyagers. Together with rotating guest soloists, new musical combinations emerge at every concert.

Sometimes the blues takes center stage, other times it’s soul, funk, or jazz. Arrangements provide the framework for the pieces, while solos, improvisations, and musical dialogues leave room for spontaneous developments. This gives each concert evening its own unique character.

The Round Hall of the Kurhaus Baden-Baden sets the tone for the series. The club-style seating with open seating and the short distance to the stage create an intimate atmosphere.

Solos, transitions, and the interplay among the musicians can be experienced up close. The atmosphere of a club concert blends with the historic setting of the Kurhaus Baden-Baden.
